Regarding your sealed PAL Suikoden V ~ Does it have the PlayStation 2 tear strip? Or just the clear tear strip?

Also nice to see the metal Slime Dragon Quest VIII controller as well! I tried to get hold of one, but was sent the blue one by mistake. D'oh!

Yes, the PAY Suiko V has the 'PlayStation 2 tear strip'.

I've bought some PAL games from retail outlets that are definately new and sealed but they don't have the PS tear strip. It's odd and I'd like to know why some have it and some don't? I wonder if it's the factory's decision or what?!

I got my Silver Slime Controller when they first came out - as a limited release. But then, as you know, they were put out on general release so now everyone has one. I wonder if there's a difference?

Absolutely awesome collection. One of the best, if not the best i've ever seen.
And i don't even say about the PS2 games. I don't care a lot about them. yes!
But the promo stuff and the amount of strategy guides is absolutely unbelievable. UNF**CKINGBELIEVABLE! pray!
I thought i was the only geek who collects guides for the games i like.
And the PC games. Simply WOW.

It's a very nice collection indeed! How many PAL games are there in total?

Are you able to get hold of any other sealed PAL copies of Suikoden with the PlayStation tear strip? I have bought a couple of copies in the past, but they all seem to have the clear tear strip. I think sometimes a wholesaler will seal a game if the factory doesn't - Which in the case of Konami games, seems to be often (Don't ask me why, it's a Konami thing)

And yes, I know how limited the metal Slime controllers are. If I had known I would end up getting a regular blue one, I would have paid less and imported an American one

Where is the Metal Slime controller? I can't find it in the pictures.

Do all RPGs released in the States have a Pal counterpart?

no but you can say
all RPGs released in Europe have a US counterpart ... (99% true, of course there are some exceptions ...)

No, for instance, there are many Square / Enix games that never got released over here, as well as many popular Atlus / Working Designs games. Eg, Growlanser Generations; Final Fantasy Tactics; Ogre Battle; Chrono Cross. Plus, in the case of some games, they are renamed for the European market. Eg, SMT Nocturne is known as SMT Lucifer's Call here in the UK

I originally posted a direct link to the pictures of my entire collection but it was removed and only the sealed PS2 games remain so you can't see the Slime Controller (or the rest of my stuff), sorry.

Yes, Gemini-Phoenix has it. But if you look at the pics of my PS games (sealed or not) you'll see that I have every RPG ever released in both PAL and NTSC - and a few Japanese - so you'll be able to comapre for yourself just how many we get in PAL-land as opposed to NTSC-land.

I reckon it goes something like this; for every 100 RPGs released in Japan NTSC-land gets around 50 and PAL-land gets around 35 of those. So yeah, we miss out on quite a few Sad But the numbers have definately improved in the last couple of years as we used to get less than 35% - MUCH less.

So the Pal stuff you have, are they all New Zealand's version? I am quite confused and fascinated by all the different PAL regional versions there are.

All PAL PS1&2 games are all the same, at least as far as I'm aware.

Thanks very much Dude Smile It's nice to get good feedback from other collectors.

I don't know if you know, but I live in a tiny coastal town in North Island New Zealand, and as a woman collector I'm kinda 'on my own', so it's nice to be told I'm doing alright because no-one here really appreciates what I'm doing.

That's not so say there aren't other collectors down here because there are, it's just that they're spread out all over NZ and Australia - and they're all guys. Also, as far as I know, I'm the only 'serious' RPG collector down here. So I get kinda lonely sometimes. That's why I find these forums invaluable for making connections - and friends Smile

Thanks again Dude
