If the guy really pay,i'd have to sell it..i wouldn't mind selling it for that price,i'd probably get it again as "used" and have a slight bonus on side
Re: Dreamcast JPN complete Sealed Collection
You must also see that adol invested hundreds of hours to search and buy those games (and a buyer of this auction must only invest 1 minute to get all those games) ... so the hourly rate is very low I think ...

Yearhhh.. time is what most expensive. I always dream about what masses of money i can get from selling my collection. It took me years to amass this and selling in 1 minute..

I dont get it? How can you say this is factory sealed when its not. Most look like resealed bought secondhand. Seems misleading to the buyer if your selling yes?

I once considered doing this "Just for fun", with a stupidly high Buy It Now price. But I really would be devestated to have to sell it if someone did genuinely want to purchase my entire collection. Plus, I really wouldn't know where to start in regards to valuing it all (IGN suggests my collection is apparently worth just below £30,000, but that isn't taking into consideration that about 90% of my collection is factory sealed, so I would personally value it higher!)

How do you know? Because of the shrinkwrapped games? Lots of Japanese games were like that

True, true, I dont know exactly. But dont DC sealed games of Japanese release have the tear strips too? I have some. The plastic slip cases are sold with second hand DC games from Japan almost everytime. Hence my own collection looks factory sealed, but they are not, only some.
Adol, can you settle this?
If it really is, you are truly a legend in my eyes for sure.
I dont know if I would part with it if I were you. You must have alot of adventures/ memories tied up in obtaining them all.

This is not misleading.
To protect the factory sealed games from dust&stuff i put them in outer plastic bags.
But inside of them, they ARE indeed Factory sealed, with seal stripe OF COURSE.
I know what i'm speaking about, being on Ebay for 10 years
You don't build a 2650 feedback with lies & misleading descriptions.

Well, i wouldn't cry by selling 5% of my collection.
I still have around 20 other fullsets to take care of.

I would cry if it were sold
Adol, what online retailers would you recommend as your faves?
Hey man, I believe you then about the seals

Re: Dreamcast JPN complete Sealed Collection
I added that in description so everyone thinking like you they're resealed, will believe it.
I posted a Border Down pic just for being sure everyone understand my games have seal stripe
I bought my DC games when they were released,so i have no favourites online resellers, except Ebay and Yahoo Japan.

Re: Dreamcast JPN complete Sealed Collection
As a collector, I would love to own all of this! If I had the cash, i'd Buy It Now! Lol.
But, saying that, it kind of defeats the object of collecting, as half the thrill is chasing the items in the first place. This is ok for anyone who wants to open them and play or simply for bragging rights of having a complete sealed set, but in my eyes buying a complete collection is... Well, cheating really, if you know what I mean.
What would you say you have personally spent money-wise on obtaining these games over the years? Is the auction price an accurate reflection on the money spent, or did you deliberately set it higher than average to ensure a safe return? (I know you listed it for fun though)
I can't imagine there would be too many serious collector's out there with this kind of cash to buy all in one go! Obviously when you're building up a collection over time, you don't notice small chunks going out on a weekly basis, but when you add up how much we really do spend as collector's, it really is phenomenal! What makes your collection even more amazing is the fact that you've imported everything - It's one thing for a Japanese resident to own a set like this, but for someone living in France, it's impressive!

That's what amazed me most of time.
I don't think France had a wide game market in 90s. But still Adol managed to grab all this stuff years ago back at the time (without ebay and YJA i guess). Which is simply amazing.

Re: Dreamcast JPN complete Sealed Collection
I honestly think we had the best japanese video games import scene in Europe.
There was countless of import shops in France from beginning of 90s up to 2000-2002.
But from 1997,Ebay helped me,and from 1998 Yahoo Japan as well.
However 70% of the SFC fullset was obtained from the French import scene (i had 900 titles from 1997..up to 2006,when i decided to go for the fullset, still 550 to go)
Gemini-phoenix: $20000 is an accurate price,it isn't too big,it isn't too small...i'd accept to sell it maybe for slightly less, i got a 8000€ (11600$ offer) but i'd say no...i'd go for 12000€ (17400$),then i'm ok for a 15% discount
But not less,us$ os SO low,i'd go for less than this..
I understand chasing is the most exciting part, but it is too the most frustrating, when you're 10-20 titles near the end..you could be BLOCKED for a year or more finding those missing ones (that's what i'm experiencing with SFC right now)
Besides,i'm 130 titles near finishing the complet ejapanese Saturn fullset (1100-1200 titles),which will make me the owner of every Sega system relative japanese game ever released from Mark 3 to dreamcast ( Mark 3,Game Gear, Megadrive, Mega Cd, 32X, Saturn and Dreamcast), and i'd love that!
The same i did with NEC, owning PC Engine Hucard,CD,SCD,ACD,Supergrafx & PC-FX fullsets
nintendo is quite hard to obtain..i'm 1 title to end the SFC fullset, and i already own N64,DD64..maybe i'd go with Gamecube, and ending Famicom Disk System, but Famicom CIB (1200 titles) is hard to do, and definately not 1 of my goals.
Let alone Gameboy/DS stuff
I'm not into Sony or Microsoft either.
