What's that?
Does jap. DS games play on any DS worldwide? That seems to be a game I'd love to own :drunken:
Re: The best game covers
Yes the DS is a region free console, same as the PSP, i had Final Fantasy IV for GBA on my DS the other day... It annoyed me the fact i couldn't tell what the story was on about but if you can deal with that the box covers are pretty cool
Re: The best game covers
Yeah I know about GBA games but wasn't sure about DS games.
I don't think that Kuru Poto is a game you need to know the language for. So, any information about it? I really just fell in love with it
EDIT: Okay, it's a cool puzzle game. Must...... buy..... now...

Re: The best game covers
, i must admit it does look intreging... if you do get one, let us all know what the games like (good or not)Re: The best game covers
I actually prefer most of the Japanese FF covers to their USA counterparts. Don't get me wrong...I really like the USA Covers of FFVII, FFVIII, and FFX...but I just feel like just having the FF Logo on a white background makes more of an impact (at least for me). I guess I just like simplicity more lol
And I agree with Pascal...the Secret of Mana cover is one of my favs as well

Re: The best game covers
If not for comic books like The Maxx and (Some) Uncanny X-Men then yes, VG Art would be the best hands down. Some of the KOF, SNK & Capcom artwork blows my mind.

Re: The best game covers
I will admit to it. There are some really outstanding game covers out there that are amongst some of the best artwork I have ever seen. The American cover for FFX being one that instantly springs to mind. And then there are some that... Well, are the worst examples ever, and it's a wonder why the developers / publishers allow such abominations to adorn a game cover
Unless you are referring to the actual games being art in themselves, in which case the same still applies. Some games are nothing but visual beauty throughout, and deserve to be classed as 'Works of art' and deserve to be appreciated as such. The developers in these cases could be compared to artists in some respects. Some are true visionaries, such as Miyamoto or Kojima
Personally I wouldn't have used Magna Carta as the main case study for this argument, as there are far better examples out there such as the PAL DigiPak version of Unlimited SaGa which to me is a prime example of what good presentation should look like:

Of course, there are hundreds of other great examples out there such as Shadow Of The Colossus and the Final Fantasy series to name a couple
