I guess...you love the steelbook editions right??? Smile

Do you think that sealed Xbox games reach also high prices like e.g. PS2 games???

Yes, I am a sucker for anything like this. It just so happens that a lot of Limited Editions come in Steelbook editions, hence why I have so many. Others, like Gears Of War or Forza come in different kinds of packaging, and then there are always DigiPak style box's as well which are nice to have, but tend to get messed up if they are opened and handled

Games like Viva Pinata look nice, but are in fact quite horrible as a viable form of durable packaging. The plastic is easy to damage and requires careful attention if it's opened to be played

I assume you are referring to the first Xbox and not the X360 games? These particular games, no. Some sealed Xbox games, perhaps, but out of these few Limited Edition versions, they tend to be just as common as the standard editions. Take Halo II (CE) or Doom III (CE) for example ~ They are fairly common, unlike Dead Rising (CE) which is rumoured to have only been produced to a limited quantity (5,000 units I heard), so it all depends. Unreal Championship II (CE) is the least common I think, and was harder to track down than the other two

I doubt very much that we will see the demand for some sealed Xbox titles to the degree that we have seen with past consoles such as Snes, N64, PlayStation, or PS2, but there will always be games that are more sought after than others in my opinion, and some will eventually become highly priced (Marvel Vs Capcom II is one title that seems to have been rising in value lately for example)

:!: I love the Dead Rising steelcase edition. Its quite rare to find it sealed on ebay, and it always makes me want to freak out when the UK-sellers post their used items in the "new" category.

Well, it was available for a very limited time when Dead Rising was first released, and if rumours are anything to go by, then there are only 5,000 of these around. Sealed ones would naturally be a lot rarer, and will no doubt be harder to get hold of as time goes by.

Luckily, it's sealed with the thick style cellophane with "Y" style folded ends, and not shrinkwrapped like some other LE's such as Lost Planet (X360) and Doom III (Xbox), both of which I have had since launch day. Unlike Perfect Dark Zero and Lost Planet though, Dead Rising doesn't come with a plastic slipcase

Still have a lot of tasty X360 Limited Editions to look forward to for the rest of this year, including two versions of Halo III; Mass Effect; Stranglehold; Two Worlds; And Bioshock ~ Not to mention GTA IV sometime next year. There is also rumours that the next Banjo Kazooie game might even come in a nice Limited Edition package too!

It has a vertical metallic silver cardboard sleeve over the usual case, and was only available from GAME. Not sure what extra's are included though. I never bought it when it was released as I couldn't justify spending the Ģ50 on a Sonic game.

I was recently bought a copy of sonic with the collectors sleeve, i could tell it was new but not sealed, i then discovered that my little brother had opened it up to read the instruction manual affraid

I rearlly could have slapped him, especially after playing the game... I wouldn't reccommend it!!!

There's still a lot of of recent X360 LE's I haven't got, and i'm not liking it much now that many LE's are also the same on the PS3 too (Ie, Assassin's Creed; Devil May Cry IV; GTA IV etc)

I also hate that certain websites / stores have their own unique LE. For example, Smackdown Vs Raw 2008 has three editions (One standard, one Play.com version, and one GAME version), and Assassin's Creed also has three versions from the same sites / stores.

Standard game, or limited edition? I think the Dead Rising LE is considered pretty hard to come by, having only had a small print run (Rumoured to be around 5,000 units in the UK). I know Steel Battalion has got to be rarer than most other Xbox games due to the large price tag ~ I don't know too much about US games, but I know there are a few games that got released there that never came to European shores (Tony Hawk's Pro Skater 2X is one of them), but doesn't necessarily mean that they're rare

Recently added Kane & Lynch: Dead Men (CE) and Devil May Cry IV (CE) - The latter was actually found in Tesco's pricced the same as the standard edition of the game, so I snatched it up! Bargain!

I've also been slipping in my collecting lately, so i'm missing a hell of a lot of Collector's Editions that came out after Halo III - Assassin's Creed being one of the main ones, and I am hoping to obtain Turok (Steelbook) very soon, as well as any others I may have missed that are on my list. GTA IV is definitely one that is top priority in the coming months

The limited edition games for the 360 do come thick and fast. I do like the look of the assassins areed game with the figure but it was a little expensive for me. Also i was hesitent as everytime i buy something like that it arrives damaged due to poor packaging even after i request my own method of packaging... Frustrating!!! Mad

On Oblivion, is the 'Certificate of Authenticity' strip on the outside of the shrinkwrap?

Yes, it is located on the bottom of the game and is stuck to the actual shrinkwrap. However, if you wanted to open the game and wanted to keep the COA, then it is possible to carefully slit the shrinkwrap open along the opening flap, thus retaining the shrinkwrap more or less intact throughout, including the COA.

Nice one, thanks for the confirmation. I just wanted to check the copy I bought was legit sealed. It struck me as a little odd that the CoA sticker would be on the outside (its on the inside for say Kane and Lynch LE). Cheers!

This could be a security measure as the game is online playable only. Game stores would have no reason to "Open" the game. I suppose they assume that anyone opening the game would discard the shrinkwrap packaging. I also believe it is illegal for a store to sell a brand new Xbox or PC game without the Microsoft COA

Online playable only? I don't think so lol. (You need to open and play some games lol. Just teasing)

As for the legal/illegal situation re the CoA sticker..not too sure tbh.

Maybe all the games do come from the factory with the sticker, but I'm sure there are exceptions to this.

And as for the act of selling..well that clearly doesn't happen. Game in store probably still open up half their stock so the 'new' game/disc you get has been pawed by its shoddy employees, scratched etc. Certainly HMV do as I my Lost Planet LE was very much opened when I picked it up on release day.

The romantic in me likes to think that Bethesda/whoever specified the CoA sticker goes on the outside so as to negate the possibility of damage to the LE case. After all they took great care making a fab game, and a decent LE. But thats surely fanciful thinking.
