Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
This isn't as surprising as you wrote it. It maybe looks ridicolous to spend over 200 dollar for a GameBoy game, but Fire Emblem as a PAL version also went for ~80 pounds. This is nearly 200 dollar, if I'm not totally wrong. I think Golden Sun and Wario Land 4 have same prices.
Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
yeah thats right!
but I thought it would take a little bid longer to reach the $200+ price level !

Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
NO way. This is damn overpriced! never had any US GBA game reached that high!
Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
Totally overpriced and yes, it is very surprising. This game sealed usually goes for $50-$70.
Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
Why do people always say that games are overpriced, eBay auctions are generally the best indication of the value of a game at anytime, its governed by the demand from collectors to own the game. If the game sells for over $200 then at that moment in time, the game is worth that figure because at least two people have bid that price for the game, i think people class items as "over-priced" when it goes out of their particular price range - if a game sells for that price, then that is the value of the game, and i think you have to appreciate its a dynamic market and the prices are not going to be the same forever, they do fluctuate.

99% agree ! But you must note that some auctions are pushed by sellers second ebay accounts or by friends etc. ...
Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
But when a game sells a week earlier for $50 and the next $202, you have to say that yes, whoever paid $202 overpaid!
Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
but you can not say that the price will drop next time ... so no, its not overpaid ...
Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
I think there are probably 2 issues here.
Prices fluctuate. What they sell for is market value.
Freak one offs. What they sell for is grossly over or under priced compared to realistic market value.
As to this, you decide.

and you also cannot say it the price will stay the same.
Simple as that. The noobs do all the stuff.
I've been searching for Morrowind Collector's Edition for PC recently.
A couple of them ended at 100$. Then some noobs appeared and the auction ended at...what? 300$!!.... there is a big difference between 100 and 300$. They kept fighting till the end. It was ridiculous.
And then another one also ended at 100$.
Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
yeah right, its called market fluctuations.
but variations in market prices is different from overpays!

Any bets on the final price?
I say at least 300$ USD.

Re: Big ebay sealed auctions ...
- It's the final game made in the Marvel and Capcom collaboration (Marvel and Capcom have since broken their contract, leaving a bittersweet tastes in gamers mouths. Other games they made together include Marvel vs. Capcom 1, X-Men vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes vs. Street Fighter, Marvel Super Heroes, and even all the way back to PSX w/ X-Men Children of the Atom, and EVEN SNES w/ games like X-Men Mutant Apocalypse!). Note that all of these games are rare and also fetch a high price!
- It's considered by many to be one of the greatest 2D fighting games ever, and considered by almost everyone the last "real 2D fighting game". Now most of the games are 3d like Tekken, Soul Calibur etc.
- The game itself is extremely fun to play! A whopping 52 characters, 3-on-3 tag team competition, unique special moves and larger than life hyper moves, all 3 of your team can do their hyper combo at the same time and the combo meter goes up to 999, and you can see dream matches between your favorite Marvel and Capcom heroes. It was also (and may still be) in coin-op arcades (do these even exist?)
- The game is unique in that there are TONNES of infinite combos, making most of those 52 players unplayable in high level competition, yet still keeps the fun for everyone whether they are new, or competitive players.
- And of course, it's rare and out of print.
